The First Canadian Importers Forum

The First Canadian Importers Forum was held on the afternoon of September 28, 2002 at Bond International College, 720 Midland Avenue, Toronto. Some 400 people from the Chinese business community participated as audience. Madam Zhang Yu Zhen, Chinese Consul of Commerce attended and delivered a speech.
This forum was grateful to have quest speakers from 4 major Canadian importers: a major retail packaging distributor, two textile trading companies and a major fashion chain store.
At the Forum, each of the four invited Canadian importers made a 20-minute presentation to the Chinese audience, followed each by a question/answer period. Each of the four importers shared their importing experience with the audience. They believe that the prospect of importing from China is good; however there are many areas where the Chinese exporters should further improve in order to do a good job dealing with Canadian buyers. A prominent one is communication; Chinese manufacturers should pay more attention to a correct understanding of the requirements of the product production, packaging, and shipment. Other issues are product quality and timely delivery. The Chinese audience was very interested in what these Canadian importers said and they were happy with the presentation and performance of the speakers.
After the forum ended, the speakers and some of the Chinese business people took pictures together, exchanged business cards, and engaged in networking with each other.
